No spark EA82

Hey guys, new to the forum. quite useful this website.

I own a L series wagon, 91 model with dual range 4x4 and the other day i did the L/hand timing belt. I tested it for spark before i replaced the timing belt and after the half day slog of putting on new belts, slack adjusters and oil pump gear i went to start it. It turned over but didnt fire.

So i went out to source the problem. First i thought of spark, because when my car first died we thought the distributor hall effect sensor died. No spark from the spark plug. I then went to test the spark directly from the coil. No spark.

Seeing as i replaced both distributor and coil before the timing belt and had spark i found this extremely odd.

I have:
-power to the coil
-immobiliser removed
-new coil and working distributor
-new looking leads

Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions about my little problem? i'd just love for the girl to run again :(

Cheers,
Luke

Check that the ignitor is plugged in. It is underneath the coil.

Hey quadro,

The above bit is what concerns me the most - did you remove ALL of the immobiliser or just the wires to the coil?

If you've removed the whole thing from the L then I'm with what OB said.

Cheers

Yes full immobiliser was ripped out. It seems like an after market one. but wasn't really wiring into the original wiring.

Thanks for your input. ill try the idea straight after work. much appreciated
