No spark EA82

Hey guys, new to the forum. quite useful this website.
I own a L series wagon, 91 model with dual range 4x4 and the other day i did the L/hand timing belt. I tested it for spark before i replaced the timing belt and after the half day slog of putting on new belts, slack adjusters and oil pump gear i went to start it. It turned over but didnt fire.
So i went out to source the problem. First i thought of spark, because when my car first died we thought the distributor hall effect sensor died. No spark from the spark plug. I then went to test the spark directly from the coil. No spark.
Seeing as i replaced both distributor and coil before the timing belt and had spark i found this extremely odd.
I have:
-power to the coil
-immobiliser removed
-new coil and working distributor
-new looking leads
Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions about my little problem? i'd just love for the girl to run again
Cheers,
Luke
