gday guys. just after suggestions of what to try out to resolve this mis ive got.
seems like for the first couple of minutes when you start up the car -idles and revs fine- but when ya start driving it misses and lags then after a sec or two it'll kick in like it sposed to. doesnt seem to matter whether car is cold or warm. need to suss it out because it always seems to do it when im pulling out across 2 lanes of traffic either from work or my house and its not good!
ive cleaned out the afm and tps connections with some contact cleaner as i was suggested in another thread, and cleaned the throttle body abit but not sure what else to try. maybe some upper engine cleaner as the motor is pretty high k's. oh and engine throws no codes apart from speed sensor which isnt hooked up, but that shouldnt matter.
ej22 in an L series.

Nah it would be AFM related - that one in that box on/near airfilter box.. try swapping over to another AFM & see what happens.
Cheers

I would bet O2 sensor. After i got my exhaust done back when i did my EJ conversion the O2 sensor was fine one minute and stuffed the next. Idled fine but missed badly sometimes when i accelerated. Took me ages to track it down because i thought it was fuel related. You could borrow someone elses to check this or a new aftermarket one is about $70. When this happened to my car it also did not spit a code. I think they can half stuff up and the ECU wont register a problem. Have you got a Air/Fuel meter so u can see whats going on?
I would also check for vacume leakes between the MAF and throttle body. I just found 3 pin size air leakes in some of my hoses which effected my engine running big time on acceleration and leaned out my fuel mixture.
This is advice based on my experiences not random guess work.

I'd swap in the O2 and AFM one after another from your wreck - they seem to work alright.
Otherwise I also have a known good AFM you could borrow for testing purposes, just a case of figuring out when we might cross paths, it's in the boot of my car at the moment.

ok well ive swapped the afm and fuel filter coz they were the easiest, but no change. so ill swap the O2 sensor too. no leaks form the air inlet stuff either, but i will be putting a pod filter on soonish.
ive also got another couple questions for your minds:
my fuel pump is making gurgle/cavitating noises now- does that mean its on its way out? or does it need cleaning or somthing?
also getting poor fuel economy but ill find a previous thread on that

had the same prob in ej22 powerd brumby the other month changed the afm problemm solved the ecu threw me a code that helped though
tried cleaning first with no success
just read propley
low fuel pressure could cause this

hey mat,
My fuel pump has been making gurgling noises from the day i put it in, but ive never had a problem with it or the fuel delivery. did yours just start up?
It does it mostly when i back off the throttle after giving it a bit. Are you noticing any engine hesitations when it does it?

well i can eliminate the o2 sensor, i swapped mine- surge is a little better but is still there.
fuel pump did only recently start to buzz n gurgle a bit more. so maybe is it on its way out.

ok i will just to eliminate it but i know thats not the problem. the throttle body itself seems sticky- which is another niggly problem haha
