Hi all. Wondering what you might think of a couple of things going on with my 92 sports wagon, man, 4wd.

Firstly I have a knock in the front end when I brake it happens just as the car is about to come to a complete stop, it also knocks when I take off in reverse.

Next thing is a wobble when I brake at over about 60km, mostly down the front somewhere and a a little through the sreering wheel. I thought this was caused by warped discs, they were machined in Nov last year, but the guy who did it said they were very thin (just on legal) I don't think it is a wheel balance/allingment problem (though I could be wrong) as the car drives nice and strait with none of the feeling you get from that.

Now this might sound realy dumb, But I think the heater core has sprung a leak as I'm getting coolant on the floor when I put it on. What would happen if I put some of that radiator stop leak stuff in the radiator and ran it with thw heater on ?

Hi rcs66 Have a look at all the front end bushes sounds like one might be flogged out that would cause the wobble in the breaking also

The heater is rusted out they all do stop leak might work as a temp measure but not long term it is not worth the risk replace it or bypass the heater from the engine bay
To replace it you will have to take the whole dash out and the rad is not cheap hope it helps

Yarney's on the money with the bushes - the other thing it can be is one of your CV joints is on the way out and your hearing it knock as the load is changing direction - from the front of the cage (in the joint where the ball bearings are) to the rear. Your hearing it a low speed as the engine would still be trying to move the car forward while your trying to slow the wheel down, the knock may be heard just after you put your foot on the clutch...

The heater core: It has coolant flowing through it ALL the time - there is no tap on the L series like there is on the MY's. What's most likely happened is that the plastic end tanks on the heater core are starting to crack, best to bypass it before it lets go (not a pleasant experience I can tell you that). Not dumb at all to ask about this.
