fuel reading

i know the senders can go in the tank but what other things could couse bad fuel readings on guage.its all over the place...when its full,forget a reading as it sits down like the tanks been drianed.

My liberty does the same thing, but sometimes it creeps around but its never accurate.

The senders is probably one of the only things to make this stuff up but i would check for bad earths etc.

It will be the sender's contact area 98% of the time. All else it can be are a loose connection/bad earth or the actual gauge is dicky (pretty unlikely).

Just like to say I have the only accurate fuel gauge in a liberty in Australia.

cheers guys..thought it would be the senders but figured i put it out there....mike ,your just showing off.....mines like jarrods....accurate at least least once in a while... ;-)

just got email back from suabru dealer near me...$173.00 for brand new genuine subaru sender...not too bad at all

i noticed my sisters fuel guage is all over the shop in her gen1. Up to 1/3rd of a tank in change, ya boot it, and it goes down 1/3rd of a tank, then it goes back to reading normal.

my gen3 has a very accurate fuel guage Mike..
