Spark Plug Lead One

Excuse me for being a dumb ass but if im looking into my engine bay at an EA81 motor, which is the no. 1 spark plug lead???

Make sure your not 360 degrees out from top dead centre on the spark stroke. To find this trace the No 1 spark lead back to the dizzy cap and turn the engine over til the rotor button lines up under the No 1 spark lead (dizzy cap off). Then line up the timing marks for TDC on the spark stroke of cylinder No 1.littlewhiteute wrote:Pull out the front drivers side spark plug (NO.1).
Take out the timing blanking rubber in the bellhousing on the drivers side.
Here you can see the flywheel, place your finger in the spark plug hole and rotate the engine until you feel pressure blowing against your finger. The flywheel has the ignition timing marks and TDC marked as (0).
At this point keep rotating until the zero (0) mark lines up with the pointer in the bellhousing. The is TDC NO.1 (and 2) and NO.1 is at the end of the compression stroke.
