Continues to turn over once turned off?

Hey guys.
I have an 84 wagon with the old ea81 carbie.
My problem is as the title suggests, when i turn the engine off, it continues to try to run. It only does this when it's fully warmed up. It usually turns over a good three or four times, shudders and dies.
I'm thinking it could be 'hot-spots' or carbon build-up on the pistons or combustion chamber. Would a can of 'subaru upper cylinder cleaner' take care of it?
Thanks for any advice.

Dieseling caused by build up in the heads, check the anti dieseling soleloid is still attached/working, sholud be on the side of the carby, cuts the fuel of when the ignition key is off...

The Subaru upper engine cleaner is a great product, will help.
As Cam said check your idle stop solenoid, might be stuck open.

Also what fuel are you using?? i had this problem when i ran the part ethanol fuel in my l series. It built up and kept burning.

I have never used part ethanol fuels, usually BP 95 octane.
Will any cylinder cleaner work or should i get the good stuff from subaru?

I use another product at work made by Threebond, exactly the same as Subaru upper engine cleaner.
Smells the same, looks the same and does exactly what subbie stuff does.
And stay away from ethanol blends, our fuel systems (carbs AND efi) are calibrated for ethanol.
Ethanol as 100% can be a good thing but the air fuel stoich ratio is 9.6:1.

Thanks mate i'll give it a go tomoro. I'm guessing you spray it in when the engine's warm?

Yes, engine at operating temp, engine off.
Spray in half a can through carb or throttle body at wide open.
Spin engine about two revs on starter, leave engine sit 5 minutes.
Start up engine, rev at 2000, clear out, put rest through intake while running.
Engine will be smokey and smelly, but will clear out after a drive.
You'll feel the difference.
