Clutch thrust/release bearing issues?

Post by julian » Mon May 12, 2008 12:47 pm

Hi all,
Over the past month or so, when I depress my clutch pedal slightly there is a faint high pitched whine or fast scraping noise that goes away when the clutch is given any more clamping pressure.
Does it sound like the thrust/release bearing is on its way out? How long do I have before it shits itself completely, or is this something I should get onto ASAP? Any first hand experiences???

Yeah I would say the thrust bearing is on the way out.

Yeah it would be thrust bearing, once it starts making noise - it'll get worse quickly because its all dried up inside.
