2004 Foerester Rear Wiper ??

Post by dvschem » Sun May 04, 2008 7:02 pm

I've just picked up my first Subaru, a 2004 Forester. I have a question about the rear wiper arm. When the wiper motor is turned off, the rear arm seems to be able to be swivelled quite freely by hand. I'm used to wipers being fixed pretty firmly onto the motor. The thing is that the rear wiper seems to work just fine when running. Is this some strange Subaru design or should I take it straight back to have it fixed under warranty??? Thanks very much.

Sounds like the nut is loose? remove small plastic holding on the arm there is a nut behind it and its an 13mm spanner required to tight it up.
Cheers

Thanks very much for your help. I took the wiper arm off and the metal sleeve of the wiper arm has been completely stripped. It looks like a very soft alloy-type metal. Upshot is, it's going to need replacing. Thanks again.
