EA82 turbo hesitation

Post by boyce » Fri Mar 28, 2008 9:28 am

Ok here it is the problem:
Under full throttle or partial throttle, engine feels like it is hesitating or misfiring at 2800-3200 rpm, below or higher than this range it runs perfect.

What I have done:
Checked operation/cleaned connections for:
Thermosensor (coolant temp sensor)
Oxygen sensor
EGR solenoid/Egr valve
AFM
Ignition timing
Turbo plumbing
Vacuum hoses (all)

Replaced:
Plugs
Wires
Cap
rotor
Fuel filter

Things I havent tried/changed:
Coil
What else?????

This problem is driving me nuts, somebody give me a helping hand! :)

Is this the same car you have a "starting problem with but runs fine".
Or has this happened after you code problem?

Fixed starting problem, it always had this issue since I bought it a few weeks ago, I thought it was bad fuel... but no......

I second fuel pressure, i had a very similar problem where it would stumble at 3100 rpm

what size spark gap are you running?
if you are running 1.1 like the FSM states then close them to 1.0, i run mine at .9
i was getting detonation at high loads at a similar range rpm and this fixed it...

Standard fsm 1.1
Could I upgrade my coil instead of re-gapping?

i guess so, honestly just givve it a whirl, ive had mine gapped at .9 for almost 2 years now and havent had a problem yet. if it isnt the problem then look at fuel again.

my senario might be wrong because i am running more boost and no factory wiring, all after market.
