Vortex XT headlight quiery:

Post by nncoolg » Sat Jan 05, 2008 11:00 am

Hello, I have recently purchased an XT AWD Turbs for my DAD, as he has been wanting one for years, (you've prolly seen my wanted parts thread) And would like to ask a potentially 'stupid' question...

How exactly are the pop-up lights supposed to operate?

What I mean is, you push the top button to turn them on, they pop-up, but press the bottom 'off' button, and they stay up. Is there a button that is supposed to send them down? I think there is a fault in my column or something , because the only way they seem to go down now is if the lights are on, and you turn the engine off, they start 'blinking'(repeatedly go up/down) and A 'lamp with 2 arrows' light flashes on the cluster surround, until I press the middle 'park' button, then they sleep?

Is there a control relay or something? The car had neons and crap on it, so goodness knows what stereo guru boy racer has changed!

Any help much appreciated,
Cheers.

From memory the top button pops them up for cleaning purposes. The on switch/button should pop them up automatically.

Mostly designed for cold countries so you can leave the lights up so when you return to your ice and snow covered car at night time, you can still turn the lights on and drive home.
Ever noticed all the pop-up headlights left up at ski resorts?

The headlights should retract when you turn them off with the bottom button, so something is definitely wrong.

Does anybody have a wiring diagram ?

Thanks Craigus-that makes a little more sense now! So what does the button that looks like a lamp with a up/down arrow on it (that is set to the left of the other buttons) do?

You dont happen to have any xt parts (see wanted add) do you?

The little button allows you to pop the headlights up for cleaning, service, etc without the lights turning on.

I'm looking for Vortex parts myself - if you find anyone with two dash surrounds, please let me know :) .

The plastic goes brittle over time and they tend to shatter into a million pieces.
