Power windows lacking

Post by SUBYDAZZ » Sun Dec 16, 2007 8:07 pm

Is currently quite a few spots down on my "to do" list for the Liberty, but that makes the windows struggle. My front passenger Window has really struggled on the way up for some time now, in fact, it normally needs a helping hand to fully close (as discovered after rain on a few occasions!). I had adjusted the rollers/felty things and glass level some time ago to make it close properly and not rattle when half-open but yeah, did it to the others and they have no real issues.

Ideas / Experiences please...

You may have to CAREFULLY pull the window button panel on the drivers door apart and clean it and then reassemble. Also clean up the grease on the scissor lift in the door and regrease. And as Matatak mentioned the door motor may need a refresh or replace. The motors on all doors are the same if you want to swap things around

yes, did the same operation last weekend in my lib for my driver's door switches for the front LH door

The std wiring is a joke - probably ok when everything was new, but the voltage drop is a killer as the motor ages / load increases.

When i fitted electric windows to my L, i made my own loom & switching panel - went up about 20% faster than they did on the donor car

Agreed, once they start getting old they need a freshen up. Use new grease sparingly
