so this babys over heating really bad it will sit there just fine but when you get it on the road its gutless and the turbo heats up like crazy. i need some help i've been told it might be the timing. so far i've erased the comp memory cleaned the injectors everything should be running fine. im about to go get the comp checked.

let us know what the comp test says. If comes back good then can suggest other stuff to look into. Headgaskets and cracked heads are problem area for EA82 turbo. they like to be kept cool.

well no luck on getting the comp tested yet. They only check trouble codes and anyone can do that. But anyway its a Turbocharged 1.8 litre engine and full-time 4WD with over head cams so you know for sure. 1988 this thing is an awesome collectable but its pissing me off. I still think i might have messed up the timing any suggestions on how to time this thing right?

fulltime 4wd - is it an import?? locals were part time. if so got a pic??

I bought one with the same problems and the heads were toast. had a $3k repair bill with it from the first time it died. theres a EJ in the slot now.

look into the cooling side of things ie radiator, thermostat, fans, water pump, like i am currently doing with the same engine.
(also on another thread too)

Intercooler should be the first mod you do, then you can up the boost a bit
RS liberty water/air intercooler is good, or if you want to put a hood scoop in, use a WRX top mount

You sure could, the plumbing is the same, you will just have to make a scoop for your bonnet to feed cold air into it.

2.5 wuld be better than 3 i think 3 is way to big and ull loose back pressure dont count on my input but

maybe 2.5 is still to big to get the peak power outta it aswell  maybe 2.25 shuld be considered

neway see wt otha ppl say as i aint sure with these ones
