Engine pinking or pinging

Post by stephendean » Sun Apr 01, 2007 11:33 am

My "L" series is exhibit a bad case of pinging, does anyone have any ideas on trying to track down what is causing this? It is an annoying noise which has me worried that there is something wrong with the ea82 engine. the engine is the fuel injected version. Any help in tracking down what might be causing it gratefully appreciated. :)

Been using woolies premium for a while, but tried a few tanks of Shell normal. But there was no difference

It could be a blocked filter or a dodgy fuel regualtor. My old engine used to do this on big hills, i just put up with it and backed off until i got over the other side... I never got to sort out the issue, the engine cooked itself a few times too many, now i have my rebuilt engine in and no problems. How many k's on this engine of yours?

If your plugs are in the wrong heat range they can cause pinging
