95 LX FWD liberty. EJ22 etc. Power steering feels funny. Heavy to turn the wheel with normal 195/60/15's. Makes a clunking kinda a little loose sounding mechanical part when swiveling the wheel with the engine and ignition off.
Drained the reservoir in a lame attempt to give some new viscosity to the fluid in there. Level was normal and is now normal again. Very slight improvement, maybe just my imagination though. Tyre pressure and wheel alignment just checked.
What can go wrong with these things? Is there some where to drain the oil? and how often should it be done?
I'll be doing a 2000km stint soon so need to get this figured out. If I cannot come up with anything soon I'll have to take it in to the local Subaru dealership.
So whats happened to ur PS systems and what could mine be?
Power steering issue 95 EJ22 liberty
I have been through probably 6 EJ Power Steering pumps so far so i think that the pump would be your problem. However i can't rule out the rack. I would buy another 2nd hand pump from a wrecker and see how u go with that.

waggaclint - thanks for that site. Good to know there is a company around that makes reco units. Rather get one of those than just buy another old worn one. I think I'll find my local power steering experts and get a diagnosis form them and then replace the part myself if its gonna save some money, looking at the trouble shooting on that site makes me not so certain that what it is. Rather get it right the first time, than have it being a problem in the wife's (our main) car.waggaclint wrote:try http://www.australianpowersteering.com.au you can get them through repco to i think should be part number PSP559 but id check that number depends on year model of car.....
