need another boot

Post by Malc » Thu Jul 20, 2006 6:35 pm

My front right cv boot had a tear in it from the steering arm so I replaced the boot, the front shocks (worn out) and gearbox mounts. Now i think i have to replace the boot again after only a month. Why?

Did you get a boot that has clearance for the steering linkage? I've had this happen to me before, the boot you should be using will have a smaller 'V' just off the cup (if you get what I mean).

I can probably post pictures...

Got it fixed today. The rubber grommet holding the steering column in place through the firewall had come loose causing the steering arm to move around which rubbed on the boot.
