Problems with carby upgrade 1990 Brumby

Installed carby started engine. Lot of coolant in exhaust system and present in inlet manifold. Would welcome a few ideas as to where the problem lies. Many thanks Dave.

the standard inlet manifold on the EA81 motor has 2 points where coolant can leak at the heads where the manifold bolts on and under the carby where a water jacket helps the carby on cold starts and stops ice from forming (in what country Im not sure)

Im hoping when you put the new carby on you put new gaskets on as well and yes if there is a black plastic spacer you need one under it and one under the carby and if you had the manifold off you need new gaskets for that as well and I would also consider doing a compression test to rule out a leaking head gasket

yeh had the same problem on mine when i done a webber carby upgrade, was just cheap gaskets not shaped correctly, some aviation gasket sealer and bobs your uncle... easy to fix if this is your problem...

That is my guess also. On my manifolds for LPG I have removed these pressed in pipe fittings and tapped an M10 or M12 thread down into manifolds water jacket and sealed off with a long thread bolt cut off at top to seal it of....for ever

My instructions never said to reuse black spacer. New gaskets were used as supplied with kit. I will remove everything and start again.

Removed adapter plate and inspected. Found flaw in the casting between water
jacket and the inside of the adapter. Thanks again for replies inspired me to look further and find the problem.

not a problem ok so adapter as well means you have put on a weber so no need for the old carby parts i was thinking you had put a standard newer carby on

high tempreture silicon is great at filling in flaws but eventually it will fail

Adapter was branded "Redline". Please be careful if you buy this brand because it is of poor quality and like myself your engine too could be damaged using this product.
