fueling issue

Post by woody.t » Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:56 pm

bought a 91 liberty gas and fuel. runs fine on gas but will stall when switched to fuel. i suspect he's ran it on gas for an extended period of time and therefore ruined the injectors or something along these lines, also the fuel gauge flunctuates from it's actually position and empty not sure if it's related but it could be. anyone have any thoughts on the situation.

I'd check the fuel line just before it comes in the engine ie. near fuel filter and see if the fuel is actually coming in, if it isn't then its somewhere in the lines or tank. If it is, then I'd go next step checking on the engine... Injectors (fuel and power) etc..

if theres no fuel at the engine the injectors will be stuffed
or if the gas system turnes off the fuel pump the injectors will have overheated and that stuffs them too

it will run fine for periods of time and then stall randomly normally at low revs or when taking off if this helps.
