no power to coil, immobiliser prime suspect

Post by RogDog » Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:09 pm

Just bought an 88' L series from wreckers for $700. Looks to be in great condition. Just put new battery in, All electrics are working.

tested power going to starter motor, none going to Coil though. My current guess is some kind of issue with immobiliser. its this model, sticker on it says installed in mid 2000. Red light doesn't illuminate.

anyone have any suggestions as to what my be the issue? removal an option? I read on the immobiliser website..

"Bypassing security is not possible by simply removing the system from the vehicle"

will love to know if this car actually works!

i'd try give the coil power - 9 volts to be safe. As in you would with hotwire procedure
