I am looking at buying an L Series subaru wagon, I have one already which i am looking to replace, The one I have looked at and am considering buying has a minor engine problem, however, as an accountant, i really don't understand the problem, or the fix.

Would you be able to offer some guidance???

The seller is telling me it is the EGR valve which is faulty, causing a sort of buzzing sound from the engine, somewhere near where the distributor leads come out and irregular exhaust flow. I have googled around but cant really understand much.

Any help would be appreciated.
