Knock noise comming from drive train HELP..
i have no idea where its comming from, i had a quick look but all looks bolted. Noise is getting worst. not sure but either its worst or more stuff are making noise lol. I will have a better look at all the bolts and nuts under the engine, gearbox, uni joint, diff hubs etc.
I am planning to get the front bearings done next week. I still drive the car, as its the only running one but i should stop:S
Also does anyone know how to adjust a TPS sensor?

Jack the car up and spin the wheels by hand, easy to tell if the bearings are stuffed you should be able to feel it and hear it. If it's not smooth and silent then the bearings are stuffed. Altho don't be fooled by the possibility of a brake rotor cover possibly bent and rubbing on the rotor or maybe even a small stone caught in there.
Front wheel bearings are super easy to do you should have a go, if you can do a EJ22 conversion then u can do front wheel bearings

cool thx for the articles. But is there one specific for the EJ22? That shows the IAC valve, and the exact voltage for the TPS sensor?
thx
Yeah i will do the bearings soon. Where do you guys buy cv's? do you buy just the joints or the complete shaft? I want to replace all 4.

Some people get the cheap chinese ones from Malz, Supercheap etc with varying results, quite often not too good.
I've always dealt with Alan's CV Joint in Osborne Park for all my CV joint and driveshaft needs. I've never had one of their CVs fail or a boot split, ever.
They can supply you with brand new aftermarket joints, or genuine Subaru joints that they rebuild onsite with larger bearings - they advise that the rebuilt genuine ones are actually the superior product.
Actually the only CV I've had fail was one of the original ones in my first L series, cause I drove it home at high speed when it was litterally full of sand after driving in lancelin with a completely split boot :P

Nah they have rebuilt ones on the shelf, but I think they do cheaper prices if you give them your ones as an exchange.
I think your car was the EA82 EFI engine originally? In that case your gearbox (if original) probably has 25spline stubs, mine did - pretty sure my wagon is the same model as yours. Easy to tell anyways, just count them when you pull the shafts off.

hi guys,
ok so i took a look at the car, The lower control arm bushes are gone, also the rear diff mount bush is gone too.
As for the cv's i found some on ebay for front $190pr and rear $200pr. Thats sounds pretty cheap, i'll try and find out what brand they are etc...
Also i called Alan, he sells the front for $175ea and $165ea rear.
I also called australian cv joint place, the guy was super nice, helpfull " well a bit like you guys with advice:P" and he seemed to have experience with lifted subies. He said that 23teethe were 175 ea and the 25 were 190.
What do you guys think i should do, ebay or alan or aus cv?
As i still want my KYB and kings that will cost around $800
I need to do the bearings...., Where do you guys bearings from?
Is state wide bearing any good?
Also where do you buy bushes? or what brand? nolathane?
thx

Nolathane only do a few bushes (control arms maybe?) for Ls. The rest are genuine.
I got front wheel bearings a few weeks ago from CBC for $34 a side. IIRC, rears were about $60 a side. Statewide is probably similar.
Steer clear of the ebay CVs. Dealing with real live specialists is always better in my experience. What are the warranties like between Alan's and Aust CV?
Dane.
