Faulty Codes

Post by iananita » Sun Jul 06, 2008 7:33 pm

Have 2 fault codes ej22, Cam angle sensor + coolant temperature sensor.
The timing is advanced. How? Plugs are good, leads are good.
Engine runs ok but pings under load + flat spot when accerelate hard.
Thoughts?

the timming is set by the ecu and if your cam angle sensor is playing up will throw your timming out..both of the sensors can be bought at subaru and are very easy to change over

Coolant Temp Sensor can also throw the Fuel/Air Mixture out, which if lean can make it Ping under load.

Also thought that Pinging is a reason these engines have Knock Sensors.

Check and count how many flashes while you're in test mode and you'll be able to tell you what is wrong.

I pulled the cam angle sensor out and cleaned all contacts. I tested it as per Haynes manual it was ok so I cleared code and has been fine since. Temp sensors was dead and needed replacing recently Knock sensor needed to be replaced.

When my timing belt was out a notch, motor ran rough but no cam angle code
