testing coil

is there a way to test the coil with only a test light?

+ on battery to -on coil it lights up

- on battery to +on coil did not light up,tryed cranking the car over it didn't pulse.

is there a way to check or should i buy another?

test coil or do you need to test the module in dizzy as it is the switcher for coil. I have found that my car runs with the KCM disconneted. You not check the wires on to the inside dizy module ? Anyone disconnected and refit wrong order ?
