Knocking from rear left wheel, but only in 2wd

Post by Peddelz » Tue Mar 03, 2009 8:19 pm

Hey guys, otherday i noticed a knocking sound coming from the left rear wheel of my 1992 sportswagon :(. It kinda sounds like loose lug nuts or cv shaft nut but i checked them and they were all tight, i then put it in 4wd and the noise went away...... anyone know what it could be?

Worn out hub or a bad wheel bearing?

i had a probelm like that once, after 1 week of driving it went away. Someone said it might have been my rear brakes coz the was sitting for a while. Have you had the wheels off and the brake hubs? might be worth a look, good luck with it!

thnx guys, ill get under there and check those rear brakes cus i only just got it back on the road (2 months ago) after it sitting for about a year. Could it also have something to do with the hill holder, because it was disconnected when i purchased the car?

Try removing the brake drum, greasing the spines and refit, check that the tappered washer is not flogged out.
