Fuel pump worries

Post by H-top » Wed Nov 19, 2008 6:38 pm

G'day,

I'm running a Bosch 910 pump in an EA82 NA,
after a while of running i get massive fuel problems
when accelerating from the halt;
really starving of fuel, ok though when cruising
at medium to high speeds.

I was thinking it may be because im using
a pretty substantial pump on an engine
that needs relatively little fuel at a pressure
that is half of the output of the pump
and its causing it to overheat and cause
friction inside the pump?

any suggestions, that hopefully won't
result in me having to ditch all my
speedflow fittings for a smaller diameter.

Cheers,

Does it ever happen when the fuel tank is full?

So assuming you're fuel lines are ok, it's not sucking air?

from the tank to the pump and the pump to
the copper pipes that lead into the vehicle,
i can actually hear the pump waining.

would the high resistance overheat the pump?
