Stiff Clutch?

Post by saxon.hall.00 » Thu Oct 09, 2008 8:39 am

Hey,

I have a Subaru, L Series, sports wagon, 1.8L, 89 model

Since I’ve had it the clutch has always been stiff, is this normal for this model of car? Or can it be fixed; I’d like it to be a bit softer?

If anyone has got some advise on what it could be? How it could be fixed and what it would cost? That would be great.

Cheers

Probably just needs a new clutch cable, I think (from memory) these are about $70 from Subaru but that's abit of a guess, I bought one once but a very long time ago.

My clutch has always been stiff, I've never got around to changing the cable but should do it soon as its been groaning on and off for a while now.

Also I've had several different clutch's in the car with no change to the feel of the pedal stiffness...

Cheers

Could be the clutch plate... they do get hot and hotter and metal becomes harden up hence stiff clutch.. I've replaced clutches in several cars and always feel lot easier after new clutch fitted.
