Tassie Holiday

Post by subybrumby » Tue Mar 18, 2008 7:40 pm

Not sure if this is the correct place for this but:-

I have just come back from a 2week 3day trip around tassie...Loved it.

Went round in a maui camper and saw lots of L series down there...they love their subies.

Went through Cranbrook and thought of Matt ??with his "jet boat" but the wife said, " keep moving, its a subie free holiday" ????

I thought the east coast was great and you have great beaches all the way up to St helens. Lucky buggers!!!

I'll be back!!

Thanks fellas...yes I will do a trip and catch up with some of you...The camper was a VW Maui..plenty of grunt..5speed and looked like a five cyclinder diesel.

We went from the airport to sorrell and then to port arthur and straight up the west coast. Climbed up the track to see wine glass bay (puff Puff) and went right around. Froze my butt off at cradle mountain and saw the spirit tasmania come in a Devonport. People were real friendly and helpful specially when we got lost occassionally. But we did all tourist things and yea the camper had everything we needed. Helen at Maui at Hobart airport looked after us and away we went. Camped first night at Seven mile beach after buying supplies.

I used the first aid kit to get out a splinter and because I opened the seal on the kit, I had to buy it. Thought that was a bit odd but what the heck, now I've got a first aid kit in the brumby.

Saw a couple of blokes camped on the beach at the Chain of lagoons near St mary's in an L series. Wondered if it was anyone on here.

It was all good...a few more rest areas on the roads would be good and I also realised that you don't have any of the giant roadhouses that dot our highways up here.

But sat on the beach at Mayfield beach with a glass of red and went straight through the camp chair...yes I'll be back ...

We went Launceston, Burnie right to Stanley, up the Nut and through to Smithton and then we drove over to look at the Windfarms at Woolnorth..went to the end of the bitumen up to the gate.

Then back down to Zeehan, Strahan and through Queenstown and then Hobart.

Yes, I do remember. They were doing the road up around there. And they grow a lot of spuds in that area if I remember correct...or toward sheffield maybe.,

You sound like a friendly bunch..I sorry I didn't get to meet some of you...I will have to come back I see. Thanks for all the interest on this post. I've got a mate living on 60 acres near St Helens and he took me up to the pig pub. The pub in the paddock at Pyengana. What a blast, where they've got pigs that drink beer. My mate loves it down there...
