Finke 2008

Post by Wilbur » Wed Aug 29, 2007 4:55 pm

So eveyone is talking about it, why not start a thread.

I'm keen to drive again, but flying is an option too.

At this stage I'd like to float the idea of a 3 week trip encompassing finke, other terrorist er tourist activitys in the area....boggy hole, the ranges, rocks etc with a quick trip (couple of nights) up to the rib factory otherwise know as wollogorang.

Other ideas or suggestions ?

We are in. I asked for the time off on my first day back. The boss said to wait until the 2008 calender is up on the wall. I have checked out flights. $288 via Cairns, $250 straight through (only on Saturdays). We are looking at the prices of hiring a campervan, not sure if the orange girl will be coming or not.

I am itching to drive but plane sounds easy. Dunno yet. I suppose we will wait and see what happens, cost wise.

So are we looking at leaving on the Saturday 31st May ish. Stamp licker, it looks like I might be travelling out in the car, as I can probably get the 3 weeks off now. Depending on the dates we decide, what have you all booked for. Or I will fly out on the Wednesday if you are going to go for the 4 weeks.

A week would be HEAPS to make it to Alice and I suppose you lot would want to look at the rock and stuff ?? Its not really that exciting imho.
Boggy hole could be worth a look - http://www.exploroz.com/TrekNotes/RedCtr/Boggy_Hole.asp
As could be the likes of kings canyon

My plans are up in the air with a possability of a new job, yay and boo at the same time. So I will have to wait and see. Should know fairly soon.

I only have one dilemma. I will be at Fraser for the fishing comp from the 24th to the 30th. I would have to leave Fraser on the 31st at the latest to be home and packed ready to drive off on the 2nd at the latest.

Time off shouldn't be a problem as I may be between jobs at that stage.

I will ask brumbyrunner when he is down soon if we are welcome back there. Hopefully we didn't get in his way too much last time. I have a new bow that wants to go for a drive too.

He isn't coming down Brett. Someone has to run the circus up there, so he tells me anyway. I reckon Jim should be fine by himself lol.
