I don't know about the blowing away bit but rain wise they have been going OK. He was on an island for a while but apparently the water has gone back a bit now. Up to 370mm this year already.

I had this reporter sheila ring up yesterday to ask how I was handling the wet.

"I've heard you've had a fair bit of rain in the Gulf. How's your road access with all the flooding?"
"The roads have been closed since new year's eve."
"That's a couple of weeks! How do you get out? By helicopter?""Get out? And go where? I live here. I don't wan't to go anywhere."
"But how are you off for gorceries and medical supplies. There have been a lot of food drops in the area and evacuation of stranded people."No worries. This is the wet season we kinda expect it. Just because some years are a bit dry there's no reason to panic when it finaly rains. I bet you we'll be getting roadtrains in here before June."
"But there's a cyclone forming out in the Gulf. Aren't you worried?"
"Worried? This is not a new thing. Cyclones have been forming in northern Australia forever. They're a part of life."
"Okay, so what have you done to prepare for the cyclone""Prepare? This is not a new thing that's snuck up on us. You don't wait for a cyclone warning and then race around madly tidying up. This is the wet season. We're always ready."

And there was more that I can't remember but you get the idea. Should have recorded it. Don't think it'll make the papers though.

A crack up alright. You should have told them you can't leave the house because of the crocodiles on your veranda. :D

Sounds like that reporter had a few loaded questions there...

Would love to be up there to see what real rain is again, but I'm also glad that summer is finally down here with tempretures in the high 30's. Good swimming weather!

Cheers

In stark comparison, we had 0.8mm of rain recorded for the month of Jan!

And today we got a grand total of five drops on the windshield for the first time in weeks... haha.

I must say I personally prefer southwest WA weather. I'm alergic to humidity! The missus can't stand the 40 degree days, though. It's about -16 in her home town at the moment.
