Hatchie... open heart operation.

For thoughs of you that don't know already... hatchie is currently engine-less.

The motor is off with Clint getting a rebuild. There has been some minor complications so the heads have required some extra work.... but hopefully the motor will be back for refitting for next weekend.

Apparently the engine had some major problems with Cylinder 1 and cylinder 4 didn't look to good either so it looks like i have made the right decision.

hope all goes well, and she returns greater!
i should also have my new project going with the next few weeks with some luck! so we shoul be up in numbers for a good 4x4 soon

Parts have been located and picked up.... BIG thanks to Tim for locating and arranging the parts... also BIG thanks to Clint for picking up the parts... and BIG thank to my boss for giving me a company mobile phone to contact everyone with.

Crisis over... engine rebuild is back on track... hopefully refitting the engine next weekend.

more news its all go now dave have all the parts etc and the machine work is done just gotta put it all back together. so it will be going this weekend mate....

More problems... someone in the past has done some repairs to the engine and has put either ej20 or ej18 parts in it. Something involving the valves and one of the heads.... im not sure exactly.... but new parts had to be ordered in.

Now re-fitting is pushed back another week.

It will be ready for offroad once the motor is in and the wear in period is up.
About a month im guessing.... possibly less.

Engine is now completed.... ready for refitting tomorrow afternoon... i will spend the morning tracking down the last of the parts i need and get the motor back a little after lunch.

I wont party untill i turn the key though.

The party has started... got the engine back in and running SWEEEEEEEET!!!!

Have not yet taken it for a test drive... i have a few small jobs to do first and i should be driving her about tomorrow afternoon.

Big thanks to WaggaClint for the fantastic job on the engine...
Tim... for helping locate the parts.
Jaffa... for the clutch pins and fork and...
Vidler for his welding skills and mechanicalish hands.

Clint has kindly given me a list of the things that were done to the engine.

1. REBORD BOTH CYLINDER BLOCKS AND FITTED SLEEVE TO NO3 CYLINDER.
2. MACHINED AND GROUND CRANKSHAFT.
3. SERVICE CYLINDER HEADS & REPLACED VALVE GUIDES & FITTED 8 NEW VALVES SO HEADS MATCH [1 HEAD WAS OFF A DIFFERENT MOTOR] REPLACED VALVE STEM SEALS AS WELL.
4. FITTED NEW CRANKSHAFT AND NEW CONROD BEARINGS ALL 20THOU OVERSIZE.
5. FITTED NEW PISTONS AND RINGS 20THOU OVERSIZE.
6. REPLACED ALL GASKETS & SEALS IN ENGINE.
7. SERVICED FUEL INJECTORS.
8. REPLACED THERMOSTAT & FITTED WATER PUMP THAT YOU SUPPLIED.
9. FITTED NEW TIMING BELT.
10. FITTED NEW OIL FILTER AND PUT NEW MOBIL XHP ENGINE OIL IN.
11. FITTED NEW SPARK PLUGS
12. REPLACED 6 CYLINDER BLOCK THREW BOLTS
13. FITTED NEW SPIGOT BEARING IN FLYWHEEL.

On top of this i fitted a new custom heavy duty Clutch and a few new hoses.
