hi all,
so i went out with the WA crew to the Guilderton area, and as typical alex, i manage to do sumthing totally stupid and very meatheady....like hitting a big rock and writing off two rims and a tyre, as well as a front left strut..

(sorry suba)
anyone who has a spare front left strut for a 1990 L-series wagon for sale, i would be more than willing to take it off your hands...and a hand installing it would be greatly appreciated(with beer....or whatever you want) and i need one asap cos i need my suby to get to work..and ive resorted to driving my old man's verada!
just a footnote...the trip was awesome and i had great fun, and look forward to doing it again!!
thanks,
Alex

My 5 speed will be out of my wagon within the next couple of months, although you probably want something sooner by the sounds of it.

j you can have the one out of the wreck that i bought. I dont know the condition of it but it was working and thats about all i can say about it. You will have to negotiate with jaffa if he wants anything for storing it, but because of the unkown condition and hassle you'll have to go through to put it in you can have it for nothing.

what style of strut is it? there are a few different l series ones. the latest model ones were not adjustable, i have one of those, but not sure which side, will have a look for you. the earlier ones had adjusting screws underneath the springs.

I think you're seeing the differences between 2wd and 4wd. Monroe list different struts between the two, and from memory the L's are the same as the MY's in this respect. That is, the 4wd struts have the adjusting nuts.

I know your right about the monroe manual tim, my l is an 93 and it certainly didnt have the adjustable type strut, but whos to say its not been changed (one side had been)... so it makes sense that it needs to be asked cause there is no guarantee as to what may have been put in or replaced in the mean time. Im sure that if he needs a 2nd hand one asap it would make sense that they at least match.

Sorry, I do know that its more important that you get it right for the vehicle, not what the book says. The difference does matter, and its good that you pointed it out. I was trying to say the difference isn't between early and late, its between 2wd and 4wd. No disrespect meant.

my L doesn't have the adjusting type (its a 92L 4WD). And its standard.

OK, sorry, I must be wrong then.
Alex I'm afraid I don't have either type, must have sold them before.

yeah the later L's never got the adjustable struts, they were set reasonably high though, higher than the adjustable struts on their low setting anyway.
