My Subi turns 30

Post by scoobymine » Fri May 10, 2013 6:15 pm

Hii everyone,
I'm having a go at posting some pics of my 83 Brumby. She's 30 years young, and given me some great service.

I'm the 3rd owner and i doubt whether she's ever been off road in her life.
I've given her a lot of TLC, and have replaced the normal stuff like CV's, ball joints, front end stuff in general.

I cut a little bit of rust out a few years back and it hasn't come back.
I live in the country, so she gets a good run at 100kph most days, and with the weber carb, she loves the highway.
On the odd trip to Perth, she goes like a dream.
185,000 original k's. The motor seems OK (had her up to 140, still had pedal. No oil burning or water losing, overheating etc.

Has a couple of little annoying sounds (i think in front left wheel area) even though i've tried on many occasions to track it down, i've had no luck. I even changed the wheel bearings and ball joints twice.
Never had a prob going to Perth, so i figure it can't be much.

Thanks to everyone who's help[ed me with advice over the years

I hope the picture link works, please tell me if it doesn't.

Cheers Rick

Thanks Paul,

I may think of selling her soon. Plenty of people here in Busso want to buy it, but don't want to give you anything.
Got a grandie up in Perth, so i may look at something a bit bigger, auto and air.

Cheers Rick

Very, very tidy!

Love the colour!

It's good seeing one of that year in such nice nick, as I picked one up for parts from the same year worth that's more rust than anything else. Glad to see what they CAN look like!

Nice little ute there mate! getting harder to find those old utes, especially in such nice condition. I would hold onto her as long as I could, because more then likely, you'l probably never get another chance to own one that age, and lets face it, older is better :D........ more street cred ;).

Regards

Doug

Thanks for the great comments guys.
If I decide to sell the old girl, I'll post her here first.
What would be a fair price roughly, anybody know?

I wouldn't pay five grand for one Toonga, but I was thinking somewhere in the middle for mine mate.
