Hi Gang
My youngest son, who some of you have met with the moving job done on RSR Pauls workshop have just got his acceptance into Tafe for auto Tech. He was in the top 30 out of 108 that applied.
So im braggn as a chuffed parent
My boy rocks.

LOL great stuff.
BUT try to get him a job as a Desel Fitter. he will work on big trucks and get paid big bucks. Working on Cars he will get pea nuts in comparison.

+1 heavy duty diesel mechanic is the trade he wants to specialise in... and clean pee tests for the mines
Big dollars and he will be able to look after his parents in their "forced retirement"

Awesome news Pete and congrats Little Pete.
Heavy Diesel Mechanics is definitely where he should be heading but let him start with learning process. He'll get a good feel for it and he'll know whether or not he really wants to go this way.

Pete,
Congrats to your son.
My advice is if he likes cars and shows the aptitude for it, then encourage him to follow a motor mechanic apprenticeship first.
When he qualifies, he can then decide to stay as a motor mechanic or get into diesel.
It is a lot easier to be a mechanic first, motor mechanics can become diesel fitters quite easily, almost RPLed.
Not so easy the other way.
