welded diff

Hey guys this isnt a for sale im just wondering if anyone would be interested in a welded 3.7 diff when i strip my brumby ive been driving on it for 8months or so an might give someone else alot of fun (ive had a ball with it)
p.s. can anyone tell me the brumys 4 speed g/b ratio cause im sure my rear is a different ratio to the front when is in 4wd it crab walks a bit

i was thinking of doing that in my l series ay. how is it to drive on, i have a 4 1/2 inch lift with 27' muddies.. seeing as your just driving around in FWD most of the time. does it drag a bit around tight corners?

dont know about using it with muddies every corner will cost ya $1 in tyres in the brumby you dont really notice it but a wagon and bigger tyres might be different

haha ye spose. also i pretty sure brmbys and MY have 3.9 and l series have 3.7

don't be fooled, both variants have the 3.9 and the 3.7. easiest way to find out what you have is to look at the rear diff. On a little silver and blue sticker you will find the answer. normally that sticker is under 3 feet of diff oil, grease and mud.

Im pretty sure it has 3.9, L Series did come in 3.7/3.9 same with Liberty as well.
Ive welded the rear diff before in my Liberty before - good if you're off road 80-90% of the time, on the straight roads its fine but around the corners the tyres wears out 10x quicker than fronts, shuddering and you'll have difficulty in car parks. When you weld it - make sure you're in well ventilated area! or a big fan to blow the smoke out the door!!
LSD is way to go if you're on the road most of the time.

Both MYs and Ls came in 3.7 or 3.9, looking at the sticker is a good idea, but its not always there.

just a query with the welded diff. Can you still turn tight corners ok offroad? I'm building up an L series wagon to keep down at the shack. Its not registered so never going on the road.
But there are a few quite tight corners. Its mainly for towing the tinny down to and around on the beach.
Should I do it?

Took me a long time but got the numbers off the sticker its a 3.7 and the brumby turns fine off road even on the road it still turns the same just shutters a little

Should be alright on soft surfaces not on bitumen - thats where trouble starts.
