Hi guys,
The plan has changed. We will take the 4x4 for a weekend trip to Two rocks instead of wedge island.
Only 1/3 of the distance to wedge
...The plan is to leave Perth sat morning, camp there Saturday night, do some fishing, BBQ and 4x4ing:) and come back Sunday.
I'm planning to bring my Quad, if I can fit it in the brumby.
Those who have exams, tests, assignment on that sunday curise can come for a day trip if you prefer and spent either sat or sunday with us. Hopefully you will all spend the night.
I think it would be best to organise everything per car and make groups.
So that each group organises there tent, sleeping bag, food etc etc etc...
I will bring a Weber.
We are still not sure if we will camp in the dunes or a caravan park.
Also we are meeting in Joondalup around 9 to 9.30 hopefully if no one is late.
I will bring some stickers for those interested, plz pm me the size you want and quantity.
"OLD POST"
I have organised with a few mates to go the wedge island for a weekend. Just wandering if anyone of you guys would be keen?
The plan is to head there sat morning, have lunch in lancelin, maybe go on the dunes or the beach for a bit and then move to wedge. Get there in the avo, setup the tents etc. Byo BBQ for dinner, spend the second day at wedge, 4WD, fishing etc. and head back to Perth in the Avo. Each car organises them-self for food, tent etc but i'll bring a BBQ.
I went there once, but never when to camp and spend a night. Does anyone know some camping spots? or can we just camp just about anywhere?
Anyone keen to join us?

I'm keen for a day trip, not too sure about overnighter so put me down as a possible, also been about 12yrs since I passed through there.
P.S. If I go remind me to take the fuse out of my ABS..........Bloody dangerous in the sand.

Hey dann, tracks there are not so bad. If you could do in the pines you should be fine. Got a few mates going in Liberty's lol.
Anyone know where we can camp? Do we just camp anywhere or are there special spots?
I'll confirm the time we will be leaving etc at a later stage:P
Thx

Yep.. Dann.. tracks are really easy to travel along (besides all the limestone rocks) infact we used to take a 2WD corolla up there for the kids to play with

but the beach is the fastest way there (subject to tides and seasons) and your L.Series would have no trouble.
Guyph.. there is a designated area for camping at Wedge Is. it's not the best area but it also means you want get fined by the rangers.

beach is best... but few weeks ago we went up, the water was right up the dunes, so u have to pick low tide otherwise its not passable....and the soft as shit spot next to narrowneck that needs carefull attention...might see ya up there for the day on sat, but not having me patrol atm, makes it a tad hard

Not planning to take the beach way as with the std liberty's won't make it. Plus I don't really want to loose my "treasure" to the sea:P
Dann, if a corolla can, then a std L series will no worries:)
Do you know where that camping spot is? only went to wedge once and didn't really spent long there.
Thx

Ok if you're taking a std Liberty then I'd recommend we take Beacon Rd (turkey track) as it's easy for any car but it adds about 20mins to the journey.
As for the designated camping spot see below..

Thx paul.
But since most of my mates have exams during the following week they don't want to spent to whole weekend at wedge. SO i decided to go to two rocks instead. I took a look at google earth, seen a few pics and seems that we will cool too:P
So yeah, now heading to two rocks:)

I'm still going for a weekend but I made it closer so those who want to come only for a day trip are not putt off by the distance:)

I'm still up for it.. bit sad about Wedge as I love that place but I can go another time
Two Rocks has some nice spots about 3kms north along the 4WD (easy when dry) tracks and there was some great places to camp just north of the sand dunes.. not sure about camping rights thou

but I usually just play dumb and say we are just fishing all night "just put the tent up for the kids"
What time you planning on leaving and will you be stopping/meeting up in Joondalup?

We are planning to leave as early as possible. I normally always say about 8 but we leave just before 9. Yeah we could meet at joondalup but everyone will meet up at my place.
It would be nice to have someone thats been there before to guide us. I've been looking on google earth and saw a few tracks I want to try out:)
Also saw an area with small pinnacles. not sure if the pics on google earth were at the right place but yeah.
Also, I love fishing and know what bait etc to use to catch Mauritian fish but, whats out here? what bait, what size hooks, gear should i use etc?

thx
