Looking for a Subi tuner...

Post by Kieren » Thu Jun 25, 2009 2:36 pm

put the ej22 in my L series. it goes like a shower of shit but eats the fuel like its nothing.

is there anyone in perth that knows anything about tuning it up so shes a bit more economical? or even better, someone who will dyno it aswell?

it is sort of the O2 sensor that keeps things in tune fuel wise. you got it working and no fault codes? kept the L series box and diff ratios too? Been thinking these EJ conversions that change box and diff ratios and standard tyres may have a bearing on fuel consumption if not matched. Of this and EJ's I no nothing, but worth a thought. What if you drive a little tamer for a tankful and see if economy improves?

its married to standard box. running 27" muddies. no warning lights. i'll look into getting a new O2 sensor and see what happens. would having a 2.5" from the extractors back cause such a significant problem?

drivind tame isnt the issue. i dont balls out much in it on the streets.

Hi Kieren,

Sounds like you have done the swap.....gutted my poor old L !.

Interesting that you are using lots of fuel, it didn't appear to when it was in my L (350-400K to the tank), however I was comparing it to the heap of fuel it drank with the Weber + EA82 + heavy foot (250K to the tank) with the EA82 it used more than our old V6 Commodore.

Are you going to post some photos.

That is not particularly good economy. I get 500+ in mine with the Ej20turbo motor. Probably alot to do with driving style I guess, also tyre size.

The ecu can't really be "tuned" - it's locked to factory settings and adjusts according to what information it receives from the various sensors, but if one or more sensors are faulty then it all goes to sh_t. Definitely check O2 sensor or get it connected up to a fault finding system as suggested.

Tune Rx with 2.0Rs

Post by Mick G » Tue Nov 02, 2010 7:07 am

Hi anyone know where i can get a good base tune for a Rx with 2.0 turbo Rs Engine and WRX VLSD G/Box & Diff. Engine management is Wolf 3d V4. I thaught i would put it on a 2Wd Dyno but of course as soon as i took out the rear half shaft she didnt move.Is Road tuning the answer?
Thanks.
Mick

Hahaha.. be nice Tom :)

There was a guy that used to own SST in Welshpool that used to tune/dyno the Wolfs.. he did my 1UZ in my Surf. I'm 99% sure he now works at one of the places that sell high preformance gear for fords/holdens.. you see it on Leach Hwy between Abernathy and Orrong.

But for Vic.. I'm sure there would be heaps of guys. Mick G check out the wolf website, Im sure there will even be some with AWD dynos.
