Seems like it has been a while since the last big trip. So just throwing the idea for another Robe trip out there, maybe October which was quite lovely weather last time. Of course Big Desert/Wyperfeld offers lots of good sand as well, old friends those two but like any old friend always worth the visit.

What I would ask is two dates from people; something shorter (day, overnighter or/and full weekend) in the next few months in addition to when a longer 4/5 day trip can fit into your schedule. To make Robe work I really think 5 days, 2 travel and 3 for the beach driving.

Feel free to offer alternative locations, I just offered Robe to get the ball rolling.

Hey Rhys,

I like the Robe idea! It's been a while since I was there and it's about time we pay a visit!!

Any weekend in October would suit me, we could leave Melbs on a Wednesday arvo, spend Thu-Sat on the sand and make our way back on Sunday...

Also open to other destinations, if we want to go exploring!

Pedro.

I'm keen on a vic desert trip, but I don't know if I can manage it for these coming school holidays - I really need to see where I'm at.

Not keen on the beach at the moment as all the "rust" proofing I did when Ruby Scoo was stripped out is bare. To really do the job properly I need to wash thoroughly, remove the gearbox, wire wheel, acid treat, then paint, paint, paint so it's sealed up good once and for all!

So no beach work for Ruby Scoo! :(

Or the weekend of the Melb cup could be a goer as I may be able to pull the monday from work  Will have to see how this goes closer to the date - high country trip? :D

Cheers

Well, VIC deserts are always a great part of the world to visit.

I'm just going to throw this out there for consideration: Border Track! :p

It's on the bucket list and keeps us away from the salty sea water...

But if we decide to go to SA, I would be keen on visiting the mouth of the Murray in Coorong National Park.

Ok so after a little bit of discussion this is looking like a Border Track trip in the first week of school holidays. Depart Wednesday return Sunday, possibly running into Monday for those with an extra day.

So the dates have been set for Fri 19/9 to Tues 23/9.

I'm happy to stay longer if anyone else wants to & will be heading to the Flinders Ranges afterwards if anyone wants to come along Image

Mum just bought a new house & I'll be helping her move. Hopefully that won't coincide with the trip.

Might have to get some better maps for the Flinders to find some fun 4wd tracks

Flinders now?? Man, you're pulling heart strings!

No can do for me, but I'm looking forward to the desert trip - can't wait!

I'm aiming to pack light this time around for "something" different and to keep some space free in the vehicle for once!

Some maintenance work will be needed for me, and with three weeks before this trip heads off I'm fast running out of time!

Cheers

OK so this is happening Friday! Camp and meetup point for Friday is Snowdrift Picnic Area (campground) on the Wirrengren Plain Track in Wyperfeld. It's fairly straightforward to get to Snowdrift from the Patchewollock Road.

The rest of the itinerary will be decided as we go but it is a Border Track trip.
