A few pics from the recent trip to Mt.Cole.

Our hut:

What would a trip be without Bennie doing repairs!

Bennie going down a steep rocky track (I think Green Range Tr):

A fourbie got stuck on Victoria Mill Tr:

We thought it amusing he had to winch when our little Subies made it up no problem. As usual, this 4wd boofhead thought he could do it without airing down, relying on his 4wd instead of his own skill!

Venom wasn't immune from roadside repairs. Here he is removing a stone that was caught between the caliper & the wheel:
Image

Packing on the last day. Not as much flex as I would like but not bad considering the lift & HD springs:

Yes Tigger we sure had fun lol. Although Bennie & Venom weren't the only ones to have mechanical probs...my radiator inlet pipe cracked & crushed, resulting in a big cloud of steam & the loss of ~2L of precious Subaru genuine coolant. As I didnt have enough coolant in the car to top up this much, I had to use water which has now diluted the remaining coolant, so when I swap in the new radiator I'll have to replace all the coolant Image

Great pics that's a good rough section and what a great name for a State Forest Enjoy Your State Forest
Love Bennie doing the crab
I cant understand people like that bloke not letting tyres down i suppose it's typical, churn up the track in the wet winch him self out then blame Subaru's for wrecking the tracks
Some guys in lge 4wd's don't know how to drive off-road they just point and shoot
Good to see you rubbed it in
Great trip by the looks

Haha, you do some tracks up there too! But we have been doing some hard tracks lately

Thats exactly right. They rely on their big tyres & big grunty engines & never bother learning the basics

I'll chuck some pics up when on the computer ;)

It was a pretty laid back weekend!

Cheers

Lunch - and a poser:

Image

An interesting Tree we found on a short walk to a rocky outcrop that I forget the name of (Nachaluva??).

Image

One of the locals - odd to see them out when it was so bitterly freezing with that wind!

Image

The view:

Image

Same area with the vehicles parked up:

Image

An old stone ruin we found:

Image

And an "interesting" camp site - good looking rock fire place, freezing windy location:

Image

Some back road we found - Ruby Scoo:

Nachaluva:

Image

Venom:

Image

Nachaluva further down the track - pretty much just sliding down this section:

Image

^ We watched two lifted rigs fly up this track - and can see why tracks rut out so quickly with that sort of use; their super chunky tyres moved a lot of mud!

Not a great image to finish off with, but this is happening again in this area - pretty indiscriminate :(

Image

Good times had. Keen to get out again and have a go at some of those nastier tracks going up. Kind of wish I had a go at the one that the other two vehicles went up. A rear locker would've worked very well on that track :D

I'll have to find some time to sort out my video footage...

Cheers

Some great pics Bennie. Love the ones of us going up Victoria Mill Tr in the rain. That was fun lol ;)

Not sure of the name that lookout where we saw the wedge-tailed eagles (3 of them!), perhaps Lookout Hill?

I've had a grinding sound coming from the front since the trip & its getting worse. Hope to have another search for it today. Its most noticeable at ~50kmh & gets worse when I turn the wheel left :-(

Thanks mate - trick is to make the effort to take them! And in the case of a few there, not to get the camera wet!

Just come down to Vic - it's easier that way!

Yeah there are some good ones there - I really like the one of you coming up the track with your foz in focus and everything around it slightly out of focus.

I remember a sign being there, but I can't remember what was written on it.

I'd say it's a wheel bearing...
