Planning a trip to Melbourne next weekend and was wondering if there were any L series sedans at any of the various pick a part type wreckers?

If anyone has been recently and noticed any sedans I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

Cheers

I need the plastic trim for the rear quarter windows on a sedan, however seeing as I have no idea how to remove this it may be tricky! Looks like you need to remove the glass as well as the trim...

Yeah I have used that site before and not sure if it is updated regularly, although it does list an L sedan. I should ring them and confirm I suppose. :)

They'd just look it up on that same website! It's used as a guide but is generally pretty accurate.

Went to Jolly's and Centre Road yesterday. Jolly's had 3 L's, all wagons. Centre Road had an MY coupe crushed along the left side of the yard (near the 4wd area), and I think at least 2 L wagons, one of which I think is still used to run around the yard by the workers (plus a Sherpa, the Vortex, and various newer Libertys and an Impreza - there are two Libertys along the bitumen area once you walk into the main yard also). Don't recall seeing a sedan. I haven't been to Kilsyth PAP for awhile so don't know the status there.

I think Pick Pay n'Go in Ringwood had a L sedan last time I was there and it looked pretty much complete, but that was awhile back (they don't move stock fast though!)....

Bear in mind that you need to remove the glass to be able to remove these trim pieces without breaking them.

Yeah I am not exactly looking forward to removing the glass just for the plastic trim! No other choice though as this piece is no longer available from Subaru and I cannot stand the look of my RX with the trim piece broken.

They are actually available - but at about $450 a pop you may struggle to justify buying one new.

BTW, been to the Centre Rd wreckers yesterday. About 6-7 L-series, one Vortex (same one, now looks bombed out), one MY, lots of gen 1 Liberties and an impreza.

That vortex doesn't happen to have the rear disc brake calipers does it?

Nope, the rear stub axles are clean as a whistle.

Interesting... When I checked with Subaru I was told they were $300 and no longer available from Subaru Japan as they had been discontinued.

The part numbers are 91023GA750 and 91023GA760. Give Subaru Geelong parts dept a call - they were the ones that said that these are available.

Ahh... Thanks for that GTlegs, we are talking about different pieces! I need the trim for the left rear side window. (65237GA110 or 65237GA050) while the numbers you have listed are for the rear grille/vent covers over the rear windscreen. Still nice to now they are available.

If you are talking about the rubbers and the triangular trim around the quarter window, these are available as well. I know because I got the triangular pieces last year to replace mine, and the rubbers the bloke said were def available at the time.
