Stinger Ems

Post by subybrumby » Sat Oct 13, 2007 4:40 pm

The brumby EA82T I have bought has a Stinger EMS installed. I have the CD rom with the software and hooked my laptop to the connector with a nine pin adaptor. The program is asking for a four digit unlock code for the ecu. I wasn't given one. Is there a way around this? Whats going on???:(

yes..it is a stinger ems engine management system. I took the dash out the other week and all this s...t fell out..relays..wires..you name it. I closed my eyes and shoved it all back in. (tidied it up a bit) I am trying to contact the previous owner by email..and I did try 0000..and a few others. The pin number for the security system doesn't work it either. I have got the air con serviced and was going to drop it in for a tune next week. not much good without the pin number for the engine computer.

Email EMS with the serial number of the ECU and they may have a code that can help you.

I'll try that, but first, I have a receipt from the last tune up. I'll ring that company and see if they kept any documentation..they are in Brisbane I think.

I think you'll find that the PIN is user programmable like everything else within the ECU. A lot of aftermarket ECUs, (EMS, Motec, Kalmaker, Haltech etc) have this function to stop unauthorised entry into the "tuning".
The previous owner should have a record if he was smart.
Once you have the correct current PIN, you can change to your own number if you wish.
Regards

Gary ;)

Thanks guys, I am exploring all these suggestions, I have sent an email to KP Performance and Products/Mazcare in Salisbury Brisbane where the car was last tuned, be it October 2005. A receipt was left in an envelope with other goodies when I purchased the ute. I am still trying to contact BrumbyBob, but don't know if he is a regular Ausubaru watcher. I'll send a PM see how that goes.

Thanks Suby Wan Kenobi for the information (re owner/2 owners ago) I have spoken to the previous owner from north side of Brisbane and he has given me the details of the tune shop at Geebung that should have the details I need. I have sent them an email but may have to take the vehicle there yet to get it sorted.

(And the radial rods were loose, took them up about an inch on the rubbers)

Thanks mate.... and all those that have helped...
