Gymkhana in September

Post by Outback bloke » Sun May 06, 2007 8:03 pm

I found out the other day through our tiler that there is going to be a gymkhana run in September by the local 4wd club. It is going to be up near the Big Fish which is about 5 mins north of Caboolture. Dunno if I am aloud to say where exactly yet but I do know that it should be a pretty good venue.

I have put up my hand, along with a few others around here, to help out with preparing the event if need be.

This event is going to be like gymkhanas used to be. Where you can take out your standard 4wd and have a go. NO rock crawling machine with 5000hp and 44" tyres needed. This year is a trial apparently. If there is a good turn out and/or response to the event then it will get bigger and better with following events.

Pretty cheap to enter and very close to home for most people. There will be no camping aloud at the event this year due to council restrictions. Next year hopefully.

So, who is interested? No pressure, just enter and have fun.

You can keep up to date with it here, http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic.php?t=107050 or I will post up as I hear more.

I'd like to see some subies at LCMP events. I reckon you'd have your work cut out for you these days.

Sounds Fantastic… pity WA is so far away as I know a few of us would be keen as. Could someone attempt to get some shots/record the course etc please… Who knows may be able to replicate things over here eventually.

Have a great time the Subaru’s will do well (as they did last time) and someone get us heaps of pics (please).
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

They do have em but as Brett pointed out its all that ultra high lift/tyres and low gearing rock crawling stump jumping stuff.

The old 1’s they used to run though would be sweet as though – I have spoken to a WA member about this in the past and just keep thinking that some low budget thing on someone’s property would be sweet as… and now there are so many of us (nutters) over here we could almost do a Subaru feast thing.

Yes I'm very interested in something like this where Subaru's (with mods) would be accepted. As Jaffa says, just needs somebody with a nice big regional property who doesn't mind a little earth moving to make a course. Here's hoping somebody volunteers!

LCMP is too expensive, especially fro competitors. By the time you pay for your camping and entry fees then add in breakages it ends up being a $1000 weekend that spectators get for $50.

Add in the fact you have to have a roll cage to enter these days means there is no longer family car events. Pretty much build a race car and keep it registered for 4 events a year.

Hopefully this one that is coming up will be like tha old days where you can take out your semi-hotted 4B and have some fun.

I can see your point.....It was 130 bucks for camping and getting into the expo last weekend (4 days). That was per car, so if you have a family its not too bad. I only know the price of show and shine entry, and that was a wopping $10. There was a few very quick cars there. Remember champans pajero.....well they have a new one. A twin turbo 3.5 v6 one. A full on class 8 off-roader. Another bloke had a GQ with a twin turbo 1UZ-FE (4L quad cam lexus motor) and it spun up 685hp on the dyno.

If I wasn't going to finke this year battle of the states at rover park is like the old days. You should take a look at that.
