Cobbold Gorge - Porcupine Gorge

Post by Outback bloke » Fri Apr 13, 2007 5:24 am

Wollogorangers, I think this is the gorge that I was talking about seeing on the way home. If it isn't the one I was thinking about it looks interesting enough to stop by and have a look any way. What do you think?

If you have Google Earth installed, http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=-18.725 ... output=kml

Another link of interest. http://www.cobboldgorge.com.au/cobbold_gorge.html

Edit: Not the gorge I was thinking about at all. It is very close to it though and is most likley a part of the same river system that carved the gorge out. The one I am/was thinking about is Porcupine gorge. There is also the Muttaburrasaurus fossil at Hughenden that may be worth a look.

I think the two gorges are close enough together that we could do both of them if we want.

Here are a few links of interest.

According to the map, the middle of no mans land on the pointey end of QLD.
I've only got 2 weeks for that trip now, so I'll be stopping as little as possible on the too and fro trips.

If all goes to plan we will be coming home through Townsville. Got some mates that live just north of there that we want to drop in on and annoy for a day or so. As it gets closer we might try and organise a meet up. Maybe at the strand?
