Porsche pistons EA82T, Volvo rings EA81 ?

Post by steptoe » Wed Apr 16, 2008 11:09 pm

When chasing pistons for my EA81 I mentioned maybe turbo it later to which I was asked if I wanted the turbo pistons suit EA81 and EA82, or the Porsche turbo pistons ?? or I could get some customs !

I guess there always has been some compatabilty / interchangability with engine parts. Good on those that find it. My EA81 piston rings arrived today and it turns out they are Volvo B21 thick top ring 2mm, 2mm and 4mm (oil ring groove) - they'd better move a little more swifter than a Volvo!!

Be careful with Porsche / VW pistons when installing, the arrow might point the wrong depending on which engines it's from.

I picked this up from using VW pistons in a 2.2l Escort engine.....
Subaru RX Turbo (engine out AGAIN!)
Ford XF Panelvan EEC-IV (rusting)
Ford Escort RS1800 GP4 (in pieces)
Van Diemen RF89 (Sold, finished and racing)
Softride Powerwing 650 (working fine)
