Wanky wagons EJ rebuild status.

hi all,
as most of you know wanky wagon recently decided to make some nice knocking/slapping noises. So i decided to rebuild my freak EJ22 motor.
starting stripping her down last weekend, and the motor came out during the week.
heres afew little pics.
wacky workshop's new residence
stop feeling so sorry for yaself(wagon)
slowly looking less and less like a complete motor

to say the least the motor was filthy. The oil was BLACK, although i change it VERY regularly. The water gallery's are all full of gungy crap.
and the head gaskets appeared to be fine.

still just the undercoat. Metallic blue to go over the top

masking tape over the end of your inlet manifold mate... you dont want dust / crap / overspray getting in there

hey that rear wheel carrier in the first picture did you make it or modify one off something else? im currently thinging down that line as a way to carry my spare.

Swarf isnt a real concern unless you have chunks of it in there and especially lots of copper stuff sitting in the bottom(usually find it in the oil pan or in the pan you drained the oil into...).
A magnetic sump plug is the bom and really scares you sometimes...I have a mini and as the gearbos is in the sump of these cars, it is really frightening when you pull the sump plug - it looks like it has an afro!!

oh there was lots of copper dont u worry...loads..getting stuck into it soon when im back in town...ive ordered parts and ready to roll!!
