Sportswagon v's Touringwagon

Hey guys, im looking at selling my brumby in the near future to buy a L series wagon, mainly for fishing so i can take the boat and one car. Just been searching the net and was wondering is there a difference if any between a Sportswagon v's Touringwagon. Most descriptions are minimal and its hard to tell via shots seeing as though 90% dont have interior shots.

sports wagon is a basic build with cloth seats and basic dash setup with no frills :P
touring will get you velure seats / electric windows / electric mirrors / height adjustable seat / better dash cluster (tacho) etc etc etc

^ that and the option of MPFI -> the fuel injected EA82. I my opinion is much better than the carbie - easier to start when cold, better fuel use etc etc.

Apart from that they have that funky bump in the roof - roof racks can be had for these but have to be after markets as i've never seen a set of genuine subaru roof racks for these, but have seen the bolt onto roof sets around.

Touring wagons are easily distinguishable by their raised roofs - just like the Gen1 Libertys have.
Try to get one 1987 onwards as the ones prior to this still have the crappy dash board arrangements.
Also 1987 onwards have the MPFI (multi point fuel injected) EA82 motors a opposed to the carburetter type. These run heaps smoother and have a very decent modern fuel system which will require no modification if you decide to convert to an EJ motor in the future.

Some people say the Touring wagons have 3.7 final drive ratio as opposed to 3.9 in the sports wagons however I've seen both types of cars running the opposite ratio so not sure if this is 100% true.

There are a few versions of sports wagon available, some with vinal instead of carpet, some with/without airon, some with/without power steering. Touring wagon's always have all these features.

my 2nd touring auto was a 3.9 and my 1st touring wagon was 3.7. all my sports wagons were also 3.7's

Probably the biggest difference since helping a friend find a touring wagon.

There are a lot less MPFI Touring wagons for sale than sports wagons!

whilst we are on the topic is there a significant difference to the enduro wagon, or just Dl and GL models? - which can also be sportswagons like mine

enduro was the later model wagons with some factory options and decals :P

Enduro's came with factory Roo-bar and decals, and possibly rola-style roof racks altho not 100% on that. I know at least some Enduro's didn't come with power steering (Vidler/Lapsed one didn't - Vidler had to install a rack from a donor car).
