Can anyone recommend a workshop who can / will make me a professional rear wheel carrier for my lib?

I am thinking of approaching a few of the custom 4x4 fabricators around the place but I can imagine most of them wont be interested in working on the suby.

Any recommendations? I want a professional job that will last and doesnt look like i made it myself... and i dont mind paying good money for good work.

What about SWK?

He will be busy enough building lift kit tops for me I have new outback gear going in all round. my old gear is shagged

I dont know of any Gen1 that has had one adapted without replacing the rear bumper. Thats why i wanna do it

Stuart: no trailer for me. I like to travel light and a trailer is just an excuse to take more crap than i need

I don't want to put you off doing cool stuff to your car but.....

Have a think about what you are taking and maybe do a "test pack" to make sure everything fits. If you have room inside the car, put the spare in there. I'm not a fan of big heavy objects hanging off the back of bumpers which is why you wont see one on mine. It might be allright on the beach and on day trips but if you happen to drive on bad corrogations for hours on end where your shocks "go off" and stay "off" all day, then your asking for trouble. Additionally, if the mount breaks and you lose your spare you're in deeper trouble. Or it gets stolen.
Just for the record, I don't like roofracks or trailers either. And I only carry one spare tyre but I make sure they are good tyres.
Pack light and watch your speed.

ahh i think i might of just worked out why my rear shocks have suddenly sagged lots. stupid me it was the addition of the heavy wheel carrier.

Dane you can mount one off the towbar.Have a look at some jeep,challenger etc ones .They have the wheel carrier and towbar as one unit.Was going to do one for the outback like that,buy won't have time.
How many people in your car?You may have plenty of room inside.

for most of the trip, 1 person

but im thinking bigger picture. For the trip I can take the base of my back seat out and fit a spare there. But down the track when i have 4 people in the car and want to head off road, i need somewhere for a spare which at the moment is looking like on the roof or on a rear wheel carrier.
