as the title suggests, i need new seats in my brumby.

i got a crook back and these seats are just playing havoc. they in good condition but dont offer the support i need.

anyone recommend a good replacement? like to get away with replacing them without to many mods etc. surely someone has replaced theirs and found an almost bolt in replacement?

i dont care if its a fixed back or recline... suggestions?

If you dont want mods and easy fit is to get 1800 or MY series seats that is in good nick to fit it in your brumby... These touring wagon are nice..

With mods get L series or Liberty seats... Newer the better..

As AP says, the MY touring wagon seats have lumbar support if that's where you need it and they will bolt-in. I've heard the Mazda 929 seats are just about a drop-in replacement also (I would assume this is the late 80s model rather than the newer ones).

If you're already up against the back of the cab then don't get a thicker seat as it will push you forward (this rules out most Falcodore style seats). The best option is to trawl a wreckers that has an MY that you can trial-fit seats into until you find your ideal seat ...

Personally I've found the early Commondore buckets to be a good travelling seat - though I had to weld up rails to fit them into one of my other cars...

Have seen what lk like 89 - 91 Maz 626/Telstar seats in a Brumby and they are comfy ! Actually was lookin' at a pair yesterday, shattered glass all over them and 120 the pair, also noted one loose, out in the weather and dirty but yeah very comfy, still want 120 a pair ! The bolt to floor is wider so I guess they just fit and need adaptation.

I fitted forester XT seats to my brumby. Had to do a far bit of fabrication to get them to fit. They are a bit to high as well, for me is ok as I m a short ass. Got them from ebay $300 for both.

As a follow up

I bought those 91 Telstar seats and found it is a job to make them fit, I think they will fit. Size wise they fit. I have removed the lower half of the runners and tossed them so then to graft them to the standard Brumby seat runners and hope to retain the height adjustment as well. The seats are grey velour and comfy as, also plastic trim bits are grey - just like the Brumby grey interior !

centre to centre of MY seat bolt holes is about 80mm less than Telstar but Telstar has an offset bracket rail. The pass seat should be easier as not as many features

If you get a MY touring wagon seat an take it to an upolster, they will craft a new piece of foam and recover it and you bacically have a new seat. Cost me $70 for the drivers seat in the L

I must admit I thought all MY seats were the same as Brumby (4got I wrecked a sedan MY with fabric seats that may have been bulkier!)

We bought an '85 Touring Wagon in '92. My wife found the seat uncomfortable for her back, even with the lumbar adjust. We replaced it with a basic Recaro. Huge difference. Much firmer and more supportive. Recently swapped them back to sell car and can really tell the difference. Recaro has swappable base to fit Sube. If you can find one on Ebay, you won't regret it.

i got WRX seats in mine $400 for both. need to drill 3 holes to fit them. the front inner has a screw thread that fits beautifully as is. i have a pic somewhere.... here and here, they have good adjustment in the bases too.
(not this is a rally oriented car so no interior.

im sure whatever replacement seat you deside on you will have to modify appart from the standard MY seats,if you looking for an easy mod get seat from an imprezza as they dont have the hight adjustment very easy to attach the brumby rails to the sub frame,for somthing a little bit harder the lib seat(drivers side)with height adjustment is a bit more challanging but can be done.what ever you deside dont weld the rails to the sub frame,you want to keep it as standard as possible so look at doing something to the subframe of the seat instead.hope this helps you out cheers leon 0417623931
