Servicing Fees

I got 2 x quotes from Subaru Service Agents via email and the differences are alarming.

1st Quote:

The 125k service is $235
Front disc pads will be $220 to $285 depending on machining rotors or not
Rear disc pads will be $155 to $220 depending on machining rotors or not

2nd Quote:

125,000km Service - 2003 XS Forester - $175
Front & Rear Brake Pad Reline - We do not re-line brake pads. Replacement of the front and rear brake pads will be $200 fitted for standard replacement pads. (Brake Reline was my own terminology - showing my age  )

Both places are in the same suburb and I have dealt with the 1st agency but I wonder what to expect from the 2nd one considering the old phrase: "You get what you pay for" and it took 2 x emails to get a response.

Are Subaru brake pads really as dear as the 1st agency is quoting and is rotor machining $65.00 a pair?
For the first time in my life I am confused as to which way to go.

Can be right, a set of genuine pads & shims for RS Liberty are $240 from memory. And yes, I reckon they are pretty good pads. Hard to justify the cost though over a decent set of Bendix pads for $70-$100 a set.
