I approached a shallow creek crossing today in the Liberty (standard height Gen II) and a woman in a Camry was there, pondering whether she should cross or not. After wading through the creek she came up to my window and said she thought her Camry was too low. I said, "my liberty is around the same height, you should be ok".

The response I got...

"but yours is a Suby"

That's what life is like driving a Subaru.

I drove the leone up to bribie with my kayak, I lost count of the number of silly grins coming my way from random people in looking at it.

I have three at the moment and drive at least one of them (sometimes two or even all three) each and every day - and have done since I bought my first one in 1993.

In fact I just took the Outback into Yerranderrie here in NSW. A couple of times I used the crawler gear - Low 1st - and on road tyres, but it did everything I asked of it without complaint

here here. When i drive around with my blue swing on the roof, with orange straps and a boot full of fishing gear, with that tick coming from my engine, i swear i get the funniest faces every known to man.

But i still love my subbie

I drive my Outback every day, unless I'm going somewhere with the wife and bub, then it's her corolla since that's the one with the baby seat in it. I'm hoping to convert the missus to subies one day though.

I've only owned two cars - an '84 Touring Wagon and a '99 Outback. I've driven other cars, but it's not the same! And yeah, driving diesel utes at work every day makes me glad to drive the subaru on the way home!

I used to drive the wagon daily for work a few years ago but for ages now I've been confined to an icky work vehicle (at first it was a Combo Van, then a Berlingo van, now a Commodore wagon).
I've just made arrangements with work to switch back to driving a personal car.
Soon as the RX Turbo is built I will be driving it every day for work. Roughly 400 to 500kms a week. Can't wait!

I don't sleep well at night unless I've driven at least one of my Subys each day. However, I have a confession to make. I have been driving SubyDream's Hyundai Excel to work a lot as it uses a lot less fuel than my Lib Wagon (about the only good thing about it). The Impreza is rarely used for work as dirty boots and clothes and the interior don't mix :) Plus, it is for emergency use only and special occasions :)

Judt the other day traveling home from work i too had a bit of a water crossing like __JC__.
Funny thing is that it was my first day in the car first time in a suby of any type (NOOB). but after months of tinkering with it and simply staring at things,,, carby i think?. i felt totaly comfortable with the whole experience, even taking the time to wave wildly at others trying the pass.... ilove my Ruby...
