after afew recent breakages on the wagon, im just about over it.

This is my plan,

sell the wagon and my liberty and buy a 2000ish turbo forester.

shove some lifted springs in the foz and some big tyres. (and thats ALL the mods i'll do to it)

what does everyone think?

Theres no option for "quit being soft and just get it fixed like last time" :)

Serious tho...its just captive nuts ripped out just like last time on the other side. The other side is holding up fine, must have been welded heaps stronger than stock, just get that done again and u will be fine.
Don't cop out on poor WankyWagon, she's one of the finest around and just needs some lovin!
Forester with springs and tyres? *yawn* boring!

Dude you can't drive it as hard as you do and expect it not to break. The only thing selling both your cars to buy one will do is make your repairs more expensive and you will be stuffing up your ride to work to. I hope you like the bus.

Finally built up the nerve to have another look at the wagon.

Its worse than i first thought. The steelwork which is welded to the body of the car has torn away, and all three captive nuts which hold the radius rod bracket in place have been torn out.

Friggin piss weak l-series's. Gotta make up custom lift blocks i think

edit: reliability isnt a major factor now. Its more the $$ factor, i dont want to be spending any more money on it.

look closely here. ive had the plate and the nuts welded up on mine. its not that hard, you just need to find someone to do it, and yes it is a few dollars for the labour.
like i said before youd be naive to think that the other side wouldnt break soon after. especially with the thrashing that she gets. like my mum says to me when i break something, youve gotta pay the consequences of how you drive the car, and it seems for the enjoyment you get out of it.

i know where you are coming from mate, a fair few of us have been through it- when something breaks and it seems too hard and too expensive to fix you get all upset and wish you'd never bought a bloody subaru offroader. but you will get over that the second you get back in her. hindsight is always good.
ill save my opinons on the foz option for later

Get another L series in very good nick ie. low kms grandma's L series?

Other thing - strip and rebuild & re-weld weak joints etc... then at the end of the day, its your L series that you know it very well.
Cheers

YEAH! nudges and winks ;)

ok, ive decided to keep the wagon. She's hanging on by the skin of her teeth tho!

Ive just replaced the wheel bearings and balljoints a couple of cv boots and other odds and sodds. Just time to fix up the captive nut issue now. Its not as bad as i first suspected. Ive got sum pretty spiffy ideas up my sleeve so she wont be breaking ANY time soon again :P
