I thought the pipes coming out the front fenders were fakes till he started it up.

That distributor doesnt leave much room for a turbo

If set up well, well. Many have done it. I had it in my too-hard basket.

I dunno how this conversion would go so far as emissions testing / passing roadworthyness etc. would go.

How very interesting, I remember reading a story on this a few years back (ie how to fit a escort dizzy to a EJ22) and without pics was hard to tell.

Wonder if this would work on my 8 bolt EJ20....

Anyone know what carb would be best to use on a 2 litre motor making about 90kw?

Carb and distributor

Post by BRUMBERTY » Sat Feb 02, 2008 8:48 am

Hi Ben, this will work on any SOHC EJ motor.

I have heard of it done to a DOHC one in a jetboat although it required serious machining work.

Budgetry restraints have ruled out a side draught carbie for my boat and as I have a spare Weber down draught that will be going on.

They came out on ford motors up to 2 ltrs, I am hoping I can jet it up enough for a 2.2 with no frills.

Tigging my old EA81 adapter plate right on to the inlet.

Budget pffft what budget.

EJ22 Dual range AWD lifted, widened and much happier now thanks very much.

1991 L Series wagon, white and perfectly normal apart from the ticking, no I think that is normal.

Jet boat..webbered EA81 with a hybrid tin dish welded and glued to it.

I've seen a similar setup for an aircraft using a 350 holley.

I'll have to take a look see at the back of the motor. The 8 bolts have a different setup to the early SOHC EJ's

Ok, I've just come to an "I'm a dumb-arse" realisation.

The reason this works is that the heads are left/right interchangeable - therefore something needs to be provided on the head to mount stuff like cam gear to the head...

This is a pic of the drivers side head rear

And here is the passenger side rear.

How does that rubber bung come out?

I can't see any issues with that carb on an ea82. It's pretty simple and there should be enough old skool mechanics around that can do the jetting properly.

Yes ppl are doing things, and those that are die hard fans of this site still find a way on here to share things, like this effort by Phinzinza:

Bernadette Brumby build - post two should be of particular interest. Like any build, several things are often happening all at once so there's no guarantee that all the info is on one post or one page ;)

Cheers
